Bathroom sinks get a lot of use, and all of that activity can lead to a bad odor from time to time. Discover some natural and nontoxic ways to get rid of bad smells coming from the bathroom sink.

Natural Ways to Get Rid of Bad Bathroom Sink Smells

The personal hygiene activities that take place in the bathroom result in a lot of debris entering the bathroom sink. Shaving cream, soap, facial products, cosmetics, hair, toothpaste and more all get sent down the sink. These products can lead to obstructed pipes and bad smells. Try these three natural ways to get rid of the smells, and call experts for plumbing in Las Vegas if the smells persist or worsen.

Baking Soda and Vinegar

Hair, soap scum and toothpaste form a sticky glob in the bathroom sink. You can loosen the glob and flush it out with a baking soda, salt and white vinegar mixture. Combine 1/2 cup baking soda and 1/4 cup of table salt. Pour these into the bathroom sink’s drain. Pour in 1/2 cup white vinegar. Put a stopper in the sink. Let the mixture work for 30 minutes. Flush with hot water for ten minutes.

Citrus Cleaner

In a small pot, combine two tablespoons of lemon juice, one cup rock salt and one cup white vinegar. Heat until the mixture measures 150 degrees Fahrenheit. Pour into the bathroom sink. Add one cup baking soda. Allow this mixture to work for 30 minutes and then flush the sink with a pot full of boiling water followed by running the tap with hot water for ten minutes.

Routine Deodorizing

Once the bad smell is gone, take the time to deodorize the bathroom sink regularly. This small action can prevent foul odors from returning. Once per week, pour 1 cup of white vinegar or 1/4 cup of lemon juice down the bathroom sink. About 30 minutes later, flush the sink with hot water. The acidic vinegar or juice kills mildew and dissolves soap scum and product buildup.
